A child was infected with H5N1, a deadly strain of the bird flu virus, the Directorate General of Health Services said Thursday in the first reported case.
The child recovered after 14 days of treatment.
The DGHS and ICDDR,B have confirmed that the child is doing well.
The child was not named in the statement and was diagnosed with having the deadly virus by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.
An advisory committee on avian influenza discussed overall management of bird flu.
Experts at the meeting said the situation was “fully under control”.
“There is nothing to panic,” the statement said.
